"Les Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry" is much more than just a manuscript. Celebrated as the “Mona Lisa” of manuscripts, this collection of personalized offices and prayers for the Duc de Berry, brother of King Charles V, bears witness to the pomp and artistic refinement of the late Middle Ages. Produced throughout the 15th century on vellum, in tempera, gold, silver and ink, this exceptional book counts among its illuminators the Limbourg brothers, eminent artists attached to the court of Burgundy and then Berry.

Conceived as a living tribute to the magnificent work of the Limbourg brothers, famed illuminators of the manuscript, this show draws its inspiration from the visual and symbolic richness of their extraordinary miniatures. Scenes of peasants and the aristocracy, fantastical creatures, signs of the zodiac, the seasons and ancient crafts all intertwine to bring to life a re-imagining of the Middle Ages. Since autumn 2024, the members of Chantilly's Compagnie équestre des Grandes Écuries (an all-female riding troupe based at Chantilly's historic stables) have been patiently studying every minute detail of these paintings to faithfully recreate their true essence in an immersive, enchanting equestrian tableau. Beneath the great dome, which has been transformed for the occasion, the audience are invited to join the round of hours, surrounded by artists from a variety of disciplines, including singers, dancers, tumblers, aerial acrobats and, of course, horses, ponies and donkeys, a staple component of this living theatre. Kalendae brings to life a world full of dragons, unicorns, noble ladies, peasants, woodcutters and harvesters; a world where writing, the arts, science and astronomy inspired the learned. A moment suspended in time and a magical, sensory experience for all ages.

Guided tour "The Très Riches Heure du duc de Berry"
Considered the most beautiful manuscript in the world, the Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry is a collection of personalized offices and prayers for the Duc de Berry, brother of King Charles V. It is a priceless testimony to the pomp and artistic refinement of the late Middle Ages. Produced throughout the 15th century, this exceptional book has truly shaped our imagination of the Middle Ages, through its numerous illustrations, which have been reproduced around the world for over a century. For the first time, several illuminated pages will be on public display simultaneously. 
The guided tour introduces visitors to the book's patron and illuminators, including the Limbourg brothers. It takes visitors on a journey through representations of historic castles (Palais de la Cité, Palais du Louvre, Château de Vincennes), princely scenes and seasonal work in the fields. 
This international exhibition will provide an insight into the long genesis of the manuscript - presented, exceptionally, in a partially unbound state - to place it in its context of creation, to understand its immense fortune and, above all, to admire one of our greatest and most fragile treasures.

The Musée Condé invites you to discover or rediscover its exceptional masterpieces through a guided tour of its painting collections in a museography characteristic of the 19th century. During this guided tour, discover the masterpieces of the Château de Chantilly, from the Mystical Marriage of Saint Francis of Assisi by Sassetta to works by Raphael, Nicolas Poussin and Watteau, which complement an exceptional library, offering a complete panorama of the collection of Henri d'Orléans, Duc d'Aumale (1822-1897).

Workshop “Enluminure” for children from 6 to 11 years old
